On Friday 13th October 2017 Noel Mathers, Claire Mulvenna and Paul Olding gave a presentation on the various roles of a surveyor to some of our Form IV pupils. Each speaker gave details about the type of work they do and the necessary skills and qualities required be a successful surveyor. Pupils found it interesting to learn about how varied and unique each project can be.
Noel left school at 16 and gained his qualifications on a part time basis. He completed a HNC, HND, became a Chartered Building Surveyor and eventually a Chartered Surveyor. He is currently the Senior Quantity Surveyor with V. B. Evans and Co. He also acts as an assessor for the RICS.
Claire completed a degree in Building Surveying at Ulster University. She also works for V. B. Evans and Co. as a Building Surveyor and is working towards her Chartership.
Paul, a BRA past pupil is a General Practice Surveyor specialising in commercial property sales and lettings and also property valuation. Paul is a Chartered Surveyor at McKibbin Commerical in Belfast.
Many thanks to Noel, Claire and Paul for their interesting and informative presentations.
