On Tuesday 2nd October 2018, eleven of our Form IV pupils took part in a SUPI event organised by QUB. A number of schools within the North Belfast Area Learning Community were also in attendance. They took part in three activities:
- Activity 1 – Role Play in Medicine: Dr Paul Murphy took pupils through the use of role play and drama when training medical professionals.
- Activity 2 – Prof Gavin Davidson helped young people shape their research questions on ‘well-being’ so that they can survey their peers on return to school.
- Activity 3 – Prof Gerry Gormley and Grainne Kearney described the various careers in medicine including activities.
Attendees have to survey a sample of B.R.A. pupils on various aspects of well-being and then design a poster with their results. These will be entered into a competition and the winner will be announced in December. Pupils found this event very enjoyable.
