Two distinguished former pupils returned to the Academy to lead alumni enrichment seminars. In September, Chief Inspector Alistair Burns of PSNI, who had recently been briefed by the FBI at their headquarters at Quantico, described his work in combating cybercrime.

Professor Mark Lawson of the University of Sussex came in September to lead a discussion on the importance of Engineering as a career.

Meanwhile, a television crew, and the well known local presenter Gerry Kelly, arrived at the school to film part of a documentary. This will deal with the part played by George Baillie, a 19th century Academy teacher who was instrumental in introducing golf to Ireland.
