The Junior Maths team of Dara Connolly-Mulcahy, Daniel Stewart, Riya Raghuram and Sarah McCarney yesterday won the Northern Ireland final of the UKMT Team Competition. The event consisted of 25 NI maths teams taking on five rounds of challenging mathematical puzzles against the clock, culminating in a mathematical relay race involving frantic running to fetch and answer shorter questions! Their scores in each round were very impressive and by winning, the Academy team will represent NI at the National Final in London in June. 1600 teams competed across the UK, so this is a tremendous achievement for these pupils and reward for their considerable efforts in preparing for the competition. Congratulations to our young mathematicians!
