We had great fun at the Young Einstein Club this week making popcorn dance! We mixed baking soda (sodium hydrogen carbonate) and vinegar (ethanoic acid) to form bubbles of carbon dioxide. The bubbles attached themselves to the popcorn kernels and carried them to the top of our beaker. When the bubbles burst at the surface the kernels sank to the bottom and the whole process began again. Not quite “dancing”, but definitely fun Chemistry!!
