Twenty of our Form III Business Studies pupils took part in a ‘Business Brains’ event on Friday 22nd June 2012.  This took place at the NICVA building in Duncairn Gardens.  Belfast Boys Model, St Patrick’s College & Our Lady of Mercy also participated.  Pupils were put into teams and asked to perform two main business challenges.

The first saw each team designing a display case for a new U18 loyalty card and the second was called ‘Cash for Words’, which required pupils to buy and sell words and letters.  The main aim of each was to make a profit.  Pupils mathematical, communication, negotiation, team working and problem solving skills were all tested in what can be described as a highly intense business environment.

Pupils thoroughly enjoyed this event, and as an added bonus the new Lord Mayor of Belfast, Alderman Gavin Robinson, called in to offer encouragement to all the pupils involved.
