Saturday 22nd October was the first round of the Ulster Schools’ Show Jumping Championships, which took place at Knockagh View Equestrian Centre, Greenisland. The competition runs as a league and the final will be held in December.

In the Novice team event we had 2 teams competing for the school:

Currie

Amber Vick (Form I)

Jessica Johnston (Form III)

Victoria Minford (Form III)

Kelly McDonald (Form III)

Shaw

Amber Vick (Form I)

Mimi Jeffroy (Form III)

Victoria Beattie (Form III)

Jessica Johnston (Form III)

Currie team produced 3 faultless rounds to make it into the jump-off.  Amber and Jessica were selected for the jump-off and produced excellent times to win the competition by 4 seconds.  The Shaw team finished in ninth place.

In the Open team event, the school’s competitors were:

Sarah Sproule (LVI)

Courtney Ferris (MVI)

Anne Sheridan (MVI)

Ana Desmond (Form III)

Amy Wilson (Form V)

Beth Moss (Form V)

Sarah Sproule (LVI)

Shaw team ended on four faults after the first round and finished in sixth place.  Pottinger team closed on a zero score and had to jump-off.  Jessica Johnston and Anne Sheridan were selected to jump-off for the team and they produced two good rounds to finish in third place.
