The School Library hosted a poetry competition in the build-up to National Poetry Day on Thursday 3rd October 2013. All poems were based on water, which is the theme of this year’s National Poetry Day. Over 70 pupils entered the competition and the standard of work this year was exceptional.
Jack Green (Form II) won first place with his poem ‘The Drops’ and was awarded a £10 voucher to spend at the School Book Fair. Jack was also a winner in last year’s poetry competition. Three runners-up were awarded a £5 voucher to spend at the Book Fair. They were Amber Allen, Jessica Dowey and Magdalena Szlachta.
Fionnuala McLean and Emma Hull were also highly commended for their entries.
All winners will read their poems aloud this Thursday during National Poetry Day in the School Library.
