Starting on Saturday 1st February, all teaching and non-teaching staff will be encouraged to take part in a 100 Day Challenge.
The premise of this initiative is that all staff are encouraged to partake in 30 minutes of exercise each day for 100 days.
According to the NHS website people who exercise regularly have a lower risk of developing many long-term (chronic) conditions, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and some cancers. Research also shows that physical activity can also boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy, as well as reducing your risk of stress, depression, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
The challenge will be divided up into four Stages (Days 1-10; Days 11-40; Days 41-70; Days 71-100). At the end of each Stage all staff members who have completed that Stage will be entered into a draw for some amazing prizes. These include; a fabulous overnight stay at the Grand Central Hotel (Bed, breakfast and dinner), kindly donated by Mr Stephen Meldrum (General manager), vouchers for the Villa Italia, a number of Bob and Berts vouchers, Bullitt Hotel Tea and Pastry vouchers, as well as coffee vouchers for The Seed and Bean.
Many thanks to the various companies who have donated these ‘motivational’ prizes. They are very much appreciated and valued.
